  1. Hi Guys,

I was hoping someone here might be able to take a look at this Critical Past still and let me know if this is the monitor HMS Erebus?:
Her Wiki page is here and the full CP footage sequence can be viewed here.

The confirmed photo from the Wiki page is below:
I have my doubts that the Normandy footage is showing Erebus - the dazzle camouflage pattern seems different; no AA position forward of the turret and to my eye, the top of the mainmast is different.

Our efforts to date can be seen here on the Whitebeam Forum.

Any help would be very much appreciated.

    Thanks guys,

  2. Pat, check out a site called "", there is a guy who has posted two articles named, Royal Navy Monitors Pt 1 & Pt 2. Hope this helps your quest.
  3. On the basis that we don't think it's Erebus (doesn't look like her to me either), it must be Roberts mustn't it? Abercrombie (the other ship in Roberts' class) would have been in the Med supporting the "first" Second Front while Overlord was going on.
  4. Thanks Guys,

I am almost certain now that we are seeing HMS Roberts standing off Sword Beach as part of 'Bombardment Force S'. Her assigned target for D-Day was the Houlgate Battery.

Very much appreciated your help here.
