I am researching my uncle's Royal Navy history. He was killed on the Normandy beaches on D-Day. Prior to that he took part in the Sicily Campaign (Operation Husky) in July 1943, during which time his service record card simply says he was assigned to 'Duty Greenock'. In February of the same year he spent a week at 'HMS Crieff'. I assume this was some kind of shore-based training camp. I have searched the internet but cannot find any mention of it. Can anyone enlighten me?
