My dad spent two years surveying the Pacific in the 1950's on HMS Challenger (even found the deepest part of the Ocean ...Challenger Deep in the Mariana's Trench)....Even though it galls me to hear of visits to Tonga and Fiji...the Gilbert and Ellis Islands....Lucky git that he is.

I have been asked by him, if there are any resources or info about the deployment, that he could get acess to!

Cheers Dunkers, he has a photo album of chronicling the trip..loads of black and whites, with "bear hunting on the Gilbert and Ellis Islands" and so on. Next time i see him, i'll try and scan some and post them!
