HMS Campbeltown

Just looking at Campbeltown now out of my office window and she looks to be completely intact, guns, trackers and the likes still there. Not sure how far the internal stripping down has got. As my mate Tiddly said Batch 3 T22s were the best ships in the fleet. The only one I didn't serve on was The Cumberland.

Are you back in Guzz Tiddly?

Evening mate, hope you're well. I am indeed back in Guzz for a few weeks before going back to sea.

There you go TO

They are a fine looking ship rummers. Never served on one myself, but there was a few knocking around up the trot when I joined in 86.

I only ever had the one, this one and she was a lady.
They did tend to rock a little but then again they did not roll. And they really did look the part.
1971-1973, two and a half years, Norway Chris was the same commission and Spidiver's brother. I remember her with fondness although side party was a bastard. I was in her in Oz in 1972 when my first sprog was born and I still have the signal from the MSO handed to me by the LRO.( Just been "gophered" by a big wave of nostalgia.):-D

You missed the missing Goalkeeper :)

If you are coming soon, you will see her looking outwardly pretty much as good as ever, if you ignore the scaffolding that is going up. You will still get a good impression of what a T22 is like as the crew are still living onboard and so she is still habitable. You will however see plenty of evidence of the speed that useful items can be removed from a ship.

Don't by any means feel short-changed by coming to decommissioned ship, it is still a 22, and FS is right in his assessment!

I wouldn't say there were the best ships in fleet having served on the Cornwall. But I did like them but I also liked 42's :D

It's sad seeing them opposite me being stripped and behind me waiting to be stripped down Frigate Alley

I do not feel short changed at all! It is an amazing opportunity and I am grateful to the organiser. I am excited about taking a look at the inner workings of the vessel and finding out about the people who worked with her.

I had no doubt in my mind that pieces would be missing, I was just wanting to know what stage the process was at.

I don't think they ever had a double and single in the same port at the same time, so the stokers could find their way back onboard.
That's right innit Mossy:laughing2:
Around 70/71 there was us, Glamorgan and Antrim on FLJ, best ship I ever served on.
