HMS Caledonia run test.

Hi all,
I've been told various different things about where you do your 2.4km run. Some have said it's 8 and a quarter laps of a football pitch, some have said 6 laps around the parade squared and some have said it's on road. Has there anyone been recently who can tell me what type of terrain they did it on? Thank you!

A friend of mine did hers and said she did 3 laps of a road route as they had road works going on for the "top route". I know you also do a 4KM squad run on the last day which is a few laps around camp with some hills thrown in for good measure.

When are you going to Caledonia?

Yeah a friend of mine said he did it on road but that would of been the end of 2015.
I go on the 20th of this month. I'm asking because I find it easy doing my run within the time on road, however when I've been practicing on a football pitch I'm no where near my time.

Yeah, 8 and a quarter laps of a football pitch and wen I run on road or in a park I use Strava to measure my distance. A few people have said it'll be because grass is bouncier and I do find it harder, but I'm not getting near the time I need.

Mod caledonia, i finished that course last Thursday and for my group of 30 it was 6.5 laps of the parade square

We done ours on the tuesday, We marched to gym, met pti, and for our warmup we had to jog up to the parade square, up an s road that leads up a hill, you will know which one when you go! Then had to do various sprints with high knees, side steps, heel flicks etc etc, then we do a jog lap of parade square to spot any hazards such as pot holes and speed bumps, then 2 min coold down and off we go [emoji23] only 2 people out of 31* failed run. Hope it helps

You do know that football pitches can be different sizes right?

You'll lose time in the corners. Develop a tactic like powering the last 3rd of a side and then first third of next side and then back down to cruising pace.
