Welcome to the Navy Net aka Rum Ration

The UK's largest and busiest UNofficial RN website.

The heart of the site is the forum area, including:

  1. Is it possible to join the TA as a RN applicant? I live 5 miles from a TA base and it just seems like a good idea to get some experience what with the long waiting times and such...

  2. Not really a good idea, the TA is not a club for people who want to play at weekends, it is an active and important part of the Armed Forces where you are trained for the purpose of deploying and contributing to ongoing efforts. It would be a waste of time, resources and money to train you knowing that it is unlikely you would be around long enough to deploy and give a worthwhile return on their 'investment' in you.

  3. He was asking whether it can be done, not whether he should do it.

Have you thought about the RNR?
