HM Ships at speed

There has long been talk in The Fleet over which RN Vessel was the speediest. It's all rather subjective. Fastest for five minutes of five hours?
I recall HMS Alert being rather Fleet Of Foot when she left Christmas Island at high speed prior to Britain detonating its first Megaton Bomb
She had embarked all the senior AWRE staff together with the Senior Military Staff and disappeared at a rate of knots.Talk about the bats out of hell!
I stood and watched in disbelief and overheard a RE Sergeant say "They've all buggered off to Hono Beedin' Lulu.
So fearful of the failure of Britain's first Megaton bomb they were, that they left any mega-problems with catastrophic failure to the mostly National Servicemen. Shameful!
