The New Zealand air force may cash in on a costly Australian military bungle, by buying spare parts from Australia's Seasprite helicopters. The helicopters were originally due to enter service in 2001 but problems with the development of their automated flight control and computerised flight systems meant they were never accepted by the navy.

If you want to read about how well the RNZN is managed, try 'Don't Rock the Boat' by Ian Bradley.

Spent time in Philomel last year, their base in Devonport (their Devonport). Interesting set up but they are strapped for cash despite undergoing a large modernisation project with new platforms ordered (project Protector).

What they do they do well, I was very impressed but in all my dealings with them they have the same financial issues we do.

    Great people though!

1968, HMS Triumph (by then a heavy repair ship) and others arrive in Devonport NZ. Triumph hits the wall a fair smack. Headline in the Auckland Whatever: 'Crunch of Piles as Huge RN Ship Berths.'
