Welcome to the Navy Net aka Rum Ration

The UK's largest and busiest UNofficial RN website.

The heart of the site is the forum area, including:

  1. i was just wondering what i should wear to it??
    A shirt and smart trousers??
And is a tie to much for a test??and also, how long, and how many questions are there for each section?? Maths english ect??

    Cheers :)

  2. Gosh, I think this is the thread for you, WS2B:

Re the shirt, smart trousers and a tie, that's fine.
  3. And take a blade.
  4. WSTB. Stop being bone f***ing idle and do some research of your own. There are countless threads about the RT and dress code on this site. Now be a good boy and do some homework. MacDonalds are recruiting at the moment try them instead.
  5. Oooh @Drakey .. Nice comment there ;)

I wore a shirt and tie for my RT.
I decided a full on suit was too much.

All of the other applicants (that passed) wore shirts and ties, bar one who wore a smart jumper.

Just wear what you feel confident and comfortable in.
    That’s my advice to you.

    Good Luck!!!
  6. Ahh ok cool :)

What you going in as matey?
  7. WSTB

Top Tip: spend this weekend and the beginning of next week cracking on with your revision for the RT. Work on the practice questions; practice against the clock - time is of the essence in the test.

Work really, really hard on it over the weekend; factor in proper food - take breaks for a walk outside - all the stuff you would be doing for an exam.

I know that you are very keen to read up as much as possible about submarines, but put that to the side for the next few days - you will have time to do that after your test - you must spend this weekend concentrating on revising for your test and doing practice tests against the clock.

  8. cheers soleil, i am working hard for it,
i have bought many different psychometrics books, i one of which is "how to become" royal navy recruit tet,
and i can answer 30 maths questions in 12-13 minutes, and only making silly mistakes, i usually get around 28 right, just need to remove those mistakes :L
If i dont get 28+ in each section, im going to be disappointed :?

  9. I just wore some smart trousers, smart shoes and a nice jumper which is what I wear everyday anyway. The other 6 people made absolutely no effort whatsoever!
  10. Nie thats what im going wear :) maybe minus the jumper if its nice outside ;)

I see you have your medical on monday, looking forward to it?? :D
  11. I thought a suit was too much beforehand, I turned up in a suit anyway and so did everyone else(everyone who had made the effort to even bring their paperwork). - My advice would be wear a suit, even if you're the only one nobody can fault you for looking presentable.

Make sure you practice those tests against the clock seriously it's not really about what you know, it's how fast you can work it out as it's all basic stuff.

If it so happens a one eyed prostitute steals you GCSE certificates on the way, remember to hold onto your birth certificate as this is the key piece of paper to sit the test. You can sort out the other pieces of paper at a later date. -Well that was the case at my RT in April.

    Good luck!
  12. Erm I'm not sure, had a couple of problems with spraining my chest a few times. I will just be happy if I pass! If I do I'm going to go do my PJFT the same day then AFCO said I might be able to get an interview the following week :)
