Welcome to the Navy Net aka Rum Ration

The UK's largest and busiest UNofficial RN website.

The heart of the site is the forum area, including:

  1. Protesters have heckled soldiers and brandished placards opposing the war in Afghanistan during a homecoming parade for troops.

A group of predominantly Muslim protesters gathered in Barking town centre, in east London, as members of the 1st Battalion Royal Anglian Regiment marched through the streets.

One witness said: "There were about 25 to 50 Muslim protesters carrying placards with things like 'Muslims Against Crusades' and 'British Soldiers Go To Hell'.

"Then there was a counter-protest of about 100 guys barracking them."

A Metropolitan Police spokesman said two people had been arrested for public order offences.

Barking and Dagenham councillor Liam Smith said the march was unaffected by the protest.

He said: "I'm glad the actions of a vocal minority failed to spoil what was a proud day in the borough's history and one we will remember for all the right reasons in years to come.

My bold - I bet it wasn't muslims (it don't even deserve a capital m).

  2. I read about this via a link posted on FB by hmforces.co.uk

The price we pay for freedom of speech

  3. True tommo and its those protesters also have the 'freedom' so get out of the UK if they don't like it. ;-)

  4. I make no apologies for posting the following. Some may have seen it, others may find it a breath of fresh air to see that a country's leader is prepared to stand up and take incoming. Time our spineless apologists did something similar.

Prime Minister John Howard - Australia

Muslims who want to live under Islamic Sharia law were told on Wednesday to get out of Australia , as the government targeted radicals in a bid to head off potential terror attacks.

Separately, Howard angered some Australian Muslims on Wednesday by saying he supported spy agencies monitoring the nation's mosques. Quote: 'IMMIGRANTS, NOT AUSTRALIANS, MUST ADAPT. Take It Or Leave It. I am tired of this nation worrying about whether we are offending some individual or their culture. Since the terrorist attacks on Bali , we have experienced a surge in patriotism by the majority of Australians.'

'This culture has been developed over two centuries of struggles, trials and victories by millions of men and women who have sought freedom'

'We speak mainly ENGLISH, not Spanish, Lebanese, Arabic, Chinese, Japanese, Russian, or any other language. Therefore, if you wish to become part of our society . Learn the language!'

'Most Australians believe in God. This is not some Christian, right wing, political push, but a fact, because Christian men and women, on Christian principles, founded this nation, and this is clearly documented. It is certainly appropriate to display it on the walls of our schools. If God offends you, then I suggest you consider another part of the world as your new home, because God is part of our culture.'

'We will accept your beliefs, and will not question why. All we ask is that you accept ours, and live in harmony and peaceful enjoyment with us.'

'This is OUR COUNTRY, OUR LAND, and OUR LIFESTYLE, and we will allow you every opportunity to enjoy all this. But once you are done complaining, whining, and griping about Our Flag, Our Pledge, Our Christian beliefs, or Our Way of Life, I highly encourage you take advantage of one other great Australian freedom,

    'THE RIGHT TO LEAVE'.'

'If you aren't happy here then LEAVE. We didn't force you to come here. You asked to be here. So accept the country YOU accepted.'

  5. As I pointed out on the 'other site' the real way to get rid of these idiots is to simply ignore them. Stop feeding them the access to publicity that they crave and they will fade away. Enhance their reputation in their community by lambasting them in the Press and you will give them new recruits.

  6. Being in East London, we strangely enough had a phone call this morning warning us there maybe trouble down in Barking (Only 3 miles away). So we were extra vigilent just incase, but nothing happened here. However, we have had loads of Police cars roaring passed the office. One of my info seekers had come up form Barking and "there's a whole bunch of football hooligans" (BNP at a guess) trying to drowned out the muslim protestors.

    SM

    :)

  7. They were EDL rather than BNP. A legitimate political party could never get involved in that sort of chicanery! :D

  8. The launcher of best back must be on holiday.

  9. As good as that speech is, unfortunately it's not true that it was ever said by John Howard, it has bits of truth in there and some quotes, but for the most part is inaccurate.
