Welcome to the Navy Net aka Rum Ration

The UK's largest and busiest UNofficial RN website.

The heart of the site is the forum area, including:

  1. Decided to buy it, up to page 209, full of inacuracies, assume he was an orficer as it's mostly based in the bun run. Some early pick up points.
LWTR on diesels, not in the 60's
Mk 9 torpedo, regularly fired from all diesel boats, main problem was loading them, as they were about 6 inches longer.
No mention of chefs, so far!
First day at sea and the galley is making bread, yes never happened.
Chief of the Boat, in the 60's Coxn's reigned supreme
Mentions LORAN but no mention of DECCA

I will carry on reading to see if it improves

    Longer than what? Just asking.

I wouldn't get too wound up about inaccuracies. As fiction or so called 'faction', it will never be as bad a book as U571 was a film.
