Welcome to the Navy Net aka Rum Ration

The UK's largest and busiest UNofficial RN website.

The heart of the site is the forum area, including:

  1. I'm trying to figure out what happened to our form of English. We were a British colony for ages and no doubt your brand of English was spoken.

Was in Hong Kong in '89 and some of the natives females (no interest in the male natives, had been at sea for a while, you get the picture). Spoke with a British accent.

Guess we lost our accent from being disconneted from home for so long.

Most that signed the decleration of independance were caught and hung for treason. They were wealthy plantaion owners, more balls than brains I suppose.

Thanls I just wanted to get that off my chest. :whew:

As General George S. Patton (paraphrased George Bernard Shaw) said about the English and Americans: "Two great peoples separated by a common language."
  3. Thank you sgtpepperband. I read that in a piece by George Bernard Shaw.

General George S. Patton was quite an outspoken General, was no dummy.

    Cheers Mate
