Help! I'm not allowed in a High Security area.....

No doubt some of you will have seen this in the papers or on Social Media the last few days:

Seems strange that a PO with 17 years in has just discovered there are areas of a Pusser's war canoe that he cannot access. Perhaps in those 17 years he has failed to notice the little framed signs on certain doors say 'Restricted Access' or 'Named Personnel Only' etc.

He is also a Commonwealth rating and so will have been well aware of what trades he can join and where onboard he can go.

There has to be more to this than meets the eye - maybe after 17 years feeling a bit unloved and wanting or trying for some dosh? I shan't spoil the fun, but all the RN sites on FaceAche are being less than sympathetic about this.

Oh dear.
When as a chief with 17 years service I looked after Seawolf on a 23.
Only certain people could enter the tracker office (sign on door as mentioned), but in the same breath, I couldn't go in other certain compartments.
Need to know. And we all know it, or dont as the case may be.

Apparently the interview was an officially sanctioned one. However......given that it was the fail I wouldn’t be surprised if one comment by the PO concerned during the course of an interview about life as a Rating from a Commonwealth country was seized upon and turned into what looks like a D&I complaint. Sensation and headlines is all that matters to that rag and it’s ‘journalists’, truth and content are irrelevant.

I’d ask why someone in RN media even allowed the Mail to do the interview.

Mmmm - IIRC that Nina Stroker fellow moved across to that Dept, a while back....

Consider this - The PO recognised the interviewer as a total waste of space and fed him a line by answering that particular Q with a deadpan injured expression...

Result - The reporter bit and PO is the hero of his Mess for winding him up & reeling him in.

Call rounds & BZ That Man !

On a serious note, surely it's not a wise move to put your name to s--t like that, I've seen managers get the arse for making comments to the detriment of the company within the company, let alone to outside people..that's civvy street mind.

I've been told it was a sanctioned and RN organised interview; if so I don't think he can be called to answer for the garbage actually published.
