The heart of the site is the forum area, including:

  1. Hello just joined the site to try and get some ideas about where i want to go in the future.

Thought i'd pop in here and say hello first.

Been a Wafu now for coming up 8 years in September. Work on the mighty lynx and im AV traded.
Done 3 years front line and rest has been either second line or killics course.

Not sure what i want now out the job and considering leaving. Just unsure on job situation

Any people joining up and want some advice on AET branch feel free to ask

    Wafu 4 life :D
  2. hey there, first off welcome :) im a wafu myself.
what made you consider leaving? have you stopped enjoying the job or just fancy a change?
  3. Think im bored of the job to be honest.

Plus i have my first kid due in august and dont want to be away. priorities change.

im stumped at what jobs to go for though. i need excitment and well paid.

there is a possibility that i could get myself medically pensioned out. ive been to 2 medical boards with my knee but i have another review in 6 months so im guessing if i want i could ask to be kicked out. no idea what to do
  4. Welcome from another ex wafu.

Don't let kids cloud your decision making. The choice needs to be what's best for you. Civvie street is grand, but isn't a patch on the mob in a few departments.

During a recession is a bad time to leave any full time employment. The crap they feed you on resettlement courses needs to be taken with a large pinch of salt. Servicemen aren't on that pedestal the resettlement staff tell you.

You sell you in the civvie world, not your past service.

Good luck in whatever you decide.
  5. Thanks for that advice.

im thinking of wacking in the notice so will be next year when im out but i dont like the look of civi street work at present
  6. hi mate.... pm sent ages ago and thanks for the advice..

my mum owns a pub which employs 50people... and i would deffo advise not to leave the navy yet...

there have been loads of ppl hand there notice in here and cant get work, and we live in an area thats quite un-affected by the credit crunch... i wouldnt even like to imagine what the situation is where your from...

stick with being a wafu for a year!!! i could learn a thing or 2 from you at least!!!! and after that year, there will be more work for you!

otherwise...... im a business man, just like my mother who earns 250,000k per year.... i would love to start a busineess servicing helicoperts at an affordinable rate for all them rich ***** who own them.... gimmie a pm with some figured, and maybee we could work summit out
