Welcome to the Navy Net aka Rum Ration

The UK's largest and busiest UNofficial RN website.

The heart of the site is the forum area, including:

  1. Old hands please help me. I spent a few months at Wlidfire in Sheerness Dockyard back in the frantic fifties and my memory banks have crashed! What was the name of the pub nearest the dockyard gate, kept by a cravat donning Walt sporting a military tach who was outed as a former stoker,[fcuk all about jungle fighting in Malaya]. The pub was also noted for a father and son;- or it may have been two brothers, who were both brown hatters. Was it The Railway Inn or similar?

  3. The one we used to frequent when checking the USS Richard Montgomery in the early 80's was "The Mechanics"..or the Maniacs as we called it.

  4. This place used to be called the Railway Hotel, strangely enough it is opposite the train station. Closed in 2009 but may be reopened as a gastro pub!
