Welcome to the Navy Net aka Rum Ration

The UK's largest and busiest UNofficial RN website.

The heart of the site is the forum area, including:

  1. I,m interested in researching "Broke". I know she was sunk off Algiers in 1942 and that my uncle, A.B Richie Smith was one of the nine killed in that action. I was wondering if any old "Shellbacks" are still around who remember that day and indeed Richie Smith. He was a Scouse guy and I,ve seen his name recorded on the memorial tablet but any other info regarding him would be most welcome for his surviving brothers.

  2. Google Cambridge University Library. You need to go to the Department of Manuscripts and University Archive, Catalogue of the papers ans correspondence of Sir Peter Scott. Amongst this is correspondence with surviving BROKE veterans, who might remember your Uncle. They might be able to help.
