Welcome to the Navy Net aka Rum Ration

The UK's largest and busiest UNofficial RN website.

The heart of the site is the forum area, including:

  1. This "green rub" sad story to this ex US soldier remembers me of another true sad story (told to me by a historian from the RN Submarine Museum). One of the first British submarines was sunk by the Germans in late 1939. All crew were lost except the C/O and one rating. Both were captured and locked up in a POW camp until the war ended in 1945. On his release the first thing the rating did with his back pay back in the UK was buy a motorbike. On his way home from HMS Dolphin for his first leave in 5 years to see his parents he was killed in a road accident just outside Gosport.
