'Granny tax': Government promised last year to keep raising pensioners' allowances - Telegraph
For one awful moment I thought I'd been caught !
Govt obviously deemed pensioners too old and doddery to remember this one. Anyway how is Govt breaking a written promise news?

When you're trawling Amazon for various goodies you are given the chance to make a wish list. With any luck and a following wind you get to acquire said items as and when funds will allow. But if your Uncle Mick in Dublin or cousin Stavros in Athens suddenly fall upon hard times and you feel obliged to lend them a little money to see them through suddenly your well made plans are on the back burner. Then there is your business which is having to layoff hundreds of workers and pay them redundency money and the ones that remain on the books are not happy and threatening to strike. To cap it all you were expecting a big cheque from your rich Aunt Ethel but she sent all her wages elsewhere to avoid paying tax. Then there are the fees for the European Club you joined. Amazon's wish list is now but a distant memory but the intentions were good.
