Ladies/Gents,

It has been brought to my attention that current day matelots are reluctant to post on RR due to the amount of retired navy posting their dits. It has been said that it's getting very tiresome, dull and boring. And I agree. To be honest, I couldn't care less about Ganges et al as I am a firm believer in progress. The purpose of my rant is pretty straightforward. This forum is the Fleet. I intrepret this as the modern day Fleet. I do not want to read about some dull cnut ditting on about 'in his day'. Some of you may not like my comments. I couldn't give a fcuk. P1ss off if you don't like it. I think this website has the potential to do as well as ARRSE but is being held back by people, who frankly, should stay in the RBL Club.
You mean number rather than amount unless you weighed them.

This is all going to end in tears.
A Blue Peter bemedalled three badged Killick Jack Dusty will consider removing issue your free colouring-in books

Im currently a member of the Royal Navy Police (modern Reggy), out in Afghan at the moment with the Special Investigation Branch, im gland were trying to progress as my bosses (the Old) were more concerned about what patches i had on my arm rather than being the first ever Deployed RNP SIB in theatre going into the green zones. We need to look forward not grip like **** onto the coatails of the good old days of tits, tats and steaming bats.

Interesting observation on a 5 year old thread Clouseau. Bored, eh? No-one talking to you perhaps? As the only SIB person out there, I'd guess even your bosses could detect your identity in the public domain. Shrewd move.

Hat's off to you in Afghan, a braver person than I choosing to leave UK & doubling the odds of being shot at. It is only surprising that a person in the SIB actually chooses to wear a uniform, so whichever badges are worn, one trusts you wear them fore & aft on grounds of equal opportunities.

Merely making a point that the more senior amongst the fleet are not willing to see the Navy moving forward and like to live in the past, not that startling really nor confusing. Maybe it was the reference to progres or looking forward that confused you so. Roll on reduncancies, time to dith the dead wood me thinks.

With regard moving forward, it's always interesting to note the opinions with regard 2OE & it's impact on promotion always change when one nears the end of the current contract. The service is all about embracing change & to show it, I've chosen to be nice to you.

Previously, I've always thought the SIB were humourless *********, but then I've only served 30 years to date. :-D

In all seriousness, I genuinely do not envy you or your colleagues being in Afghanistan. To have to conduct the work specific to your specialisation in an operational theatre certainly cannot be easy & I'd imagine extremely stressful from all sides of the equation.

It would be easy to criticise, indeed only last year the impact of this particular case burns deep in the moral hearts of many, myself included: Royal Marine 'beat Afghan prisoner with a Wellington boot' - Telegraph

Rather you than me.
