Welcome to the Navy Net aka Rum Ration

The UK's largest and busiest UNofficial RN website.

The heart of the site is the forum area, including:

  1. Welcome back, Tone!

Those are super photos - I know that Rum Rationers are going to love them.

    Thank you.

  2. The only differance to the 70s was that the beds stuck out from the bulkheads not parallel to them
  3. So did everyone else's when I wuz there... but we were different.

  4. There was a concerted effort by some ex RN sites to get the mast listed .... looks like they have failed here.

Looking at it on this clip, it doesn't seem as terrifying to me as it did in 1962 !

That mast looks huge, certainly taller than anything on the Tarzan Course, I take it you had to go up it for "Character building" purposes.

I wasn't a Ganges rating, but fully agree it's a great shame to see what is in effect, a historic monument, go to wrack & ruin (in it's literal sense).
  7. Everyone had to go over the half moon, the upper platform, in my day.

It was also used as punishment. I had to lay my kit out on the first platform, carrying one item up at a time. When our PO climbed up to inspect it, he said, "That's crap!" and kicked it all over the parade ground, and then made me collect it and lay it all out up there again.

I can't remember what I did wrong, but I didn't do it again!
