Welcome to the Navy Net aka Rum Ration

The UK's largest and busiest UNofficial RN website.

The heart of the site is the forum area, including:

some interesting comments made, for example:

  2. That's a cracker and must sting because of it's essential truth and because it reflects what a lot of civvies and more than a few brown jobs think about Jolly Jack's recent escapades. McCavity is probably a Pongo as his other Times letters show a good knowledge of artillery support in Afghanistan.

    IMO the better quote was:-

“The Government thinks that new ships are more capable and therefore you don’t need so many of them, but the number of escort ships is being cut significantly. If you’re going to rely on new carriers and an amphibious capability ... you need escort ships to keep them safe. The Government is concentrating on the big ships but neglecting the smaller ships.â€

The solution to the problem of insufficient escorts will be solved at a stroke later this year when the 2 carriers are cancelled - simples.

Best concentrate on important stuff like how to woman up the remaining RN subsurface assets, who's joining Raleigh this week and dits from the old an bold about how they sank the Bismarck.
