Now you mention it, it looks like that to me too, although it could be an optical illusion caused by the colour of the bride's bouquet. I wonder how much time he spends at sea?

I thought it was red between the stripes as well. I was looking at who wears a Naval type uniform that has doctors but no joy as yet.

I can't see any sign of a diamond shape in the top lace if he's MN.

Not all commercial outfits use the diamond and others use it interlaced, not on the top ring. Some officers claim that only certificated officers
( navigators and engineers) are entitled.

Your man may be a doctor, large passenger /cruise company. The overall look is several decades old.
