  2. Thingy....What is an adjournment debate? Is it to debate a subject which has been adjourned previously.
    It a poor sort of memory that only works backwards!
     
  3. We shall see how important the armed services are thought to be. Let us monitor the number of MPs in the house for the debate. If there are more than 20 it will be a miracle
     
  4. Trelawney, I forgot normal that people aren't up with this obscure terminology. :oops:

    Half-hour adjournment debates introduced by a backbench MP take place at the end of each day's business. The subjects raised are often local or personal issues. There is also a series of short adjournment debates on Tuesday and Wednesday mornings in the Westminster Hall Chamber.

  5. Many thanks....So your MP gets to ask a question from a minister and is not afforded the opportunity to reply unless "given way". The topics discussed are selected and will not be always sucessful if one wishes to debate something which is considered too hot.
    wonderful thing this "democrasy". :wink:
