    Job Purpose:
    The candidate must be capable of technical project management position within our clients Research and Consultancy Capability Area reporting to the Research and Consultancy Programme Manager to support the technical requirements of our MOD client during the execution of a complex, long term project. The post will report to the Research and Consultancy Programme Manager

    Technical Manager Key Responsibilities:
    • - The provision of a wide range advice and technical support to ensure that the FPE research and rapid
    procurement objectives of our customer are fully realised.
    • The design and development of research packages and provision of the technical aspects of Invitation To
    Tenders (ITT)
    • The provision of technical support to sub-contractors.
    • The technical acceptance of contracted Work Packages prior to delivery to the customer.
    • The planning and coordination of activities to ensure the success of trials and customer demonstrations.
    • The delivery of technical briefings to the members of the stakeholder community.
    Project Manager Experience and Qualifications:

    - The applicant ideally will:
    • Have Chartered Civil Engineering status.
    • Have a recent military background in FPE and have undertaken the REFPEC course delivered by Cranfield
    University.
    • Be eligible for or hold UK security clearance.
    • Have a current in-depth knowledge of the REFPEC course content:
    • Weapon Design.
    • Materials, Armour and Terminal Ballistics.
    • Blast Loading.
    • Structural Response to Blast, Ballistic and Impact Loading.
    • Ground-shock and Ground Penetration.
    • Damage Assessment and Strengthening of Existing Structures.
    • Design of Structures to Resist Accidental Explosions.
    • Fences, Barriers and Perimeter Security.

    Desirable:
    • Experience of research within the MOD environment.
    • Experience of MOD processes and procedures.
    • An understanding Systems Engineering and the relationship between requirements and the solutions that
    satisfies them.
    • An understanding of MODAF Views and the presentation of systems using Unified Modelling Language
    (UML).
    • Experience in the execution of military trials.

    The candidate is also expected to:
    • Comply with the provisions of Health and Safety legislation to assist in the maintenance of a safe workplace.
    • Dress and act at all times in a professional manner to project a positive and successful corporate image.
    Key Result Areas:
    1. Technical Management, to Include Customer Interfacing: (100%)
    • Carry out technical management work in compliance with the Company Management System.
    • Ensure project deliverables are to required technical assurance and delivered within specified timescale.
    • Schedule and attend project Reviews and progress meetings as appropriate to the project programme.
    • Deliver technical briefs to stakeholders
    • Provide technical input and technical assurance to project statement of requirements
    • Allocate tasks and monitor progress of assigned engineers
    • Allocate technical tasks to sub-contractors, monitor progress to ensure timely delivery of technical output.

    Operational Standards and Objectives:
    • Work is to be carried out to customer satisfaction and not attract customer complaint.
    • Work is to comply with the Company Management System and the Company Quality System as applied throughthe Project Management and Quality Plans.
    • Work is to be presented in the Company format unless specifically directed otherwise in recorded instructions.
    • Comply with the provisions of Health and Safety legislation to assist in the maintenance of a safe workplace.
    • Dress and act at all times in a professional manner to project a positive and successful corporate image.
    Operational Standards and Objectives:
    • Work is to comply with the Company Management System and the Company Quality System as applied through the Project Management and Quality Plans.
    • Carry out bid management work in compliance with the Company Management System.
    • Work is to be carried out to customer satisfaction and not attract customer complaint.
    • Ensure all bid inputs and deliverables are in line with agreed schedules and the content is in line with
    requirements for bid reviews and approvals.

    Ideally
    Chartered Civil Engineering status. Have a recent military background in FPE and have undertaken the REFPEC course delivered by Cranfield University Job specific training will be identified and planned as part of an analysis of training needs, following induction.
    Reporting Line
    • The candidate will report to the Programme Manager Research and Consultancy for all project and line
    management related matters.

    Job Location
    • The job will be located in our clients’ Beckington office near Bath.
    • The candidate will be required to travel for regular meetings with customers and external contractors, which
    covers the Central, Southern and South West of England. Visits away for more than one day may be required
