One of our Submariners Association members, Dennis, ex WW2 Submariner, is around 86 years old now and a great character, he has an electric chariot. Dennis lives in a fairly remote village and decided to go for a ride on the chariot. His son gets a phone call from Dennis telling him he's run out of go juice in a remote area and needs a lift. Son spends an hour searching and ringing Dennis without success. when he eventually contacts him, He's told not to worry as Dennis is back home having got a lift with a passing car. Dennis of course had forgotten to let his son know that he was home safe and well.

Dennis is still as bright as a button, We have the odd meal out and Dennis insists that he sits between myself and Jan Harvey, we don't know why we have been selected. One or both of his Sons always sit opposite, they've learnt more about their Dad's RN time since the dinners started than they have for the rest of their lives. Dennis was on the last boat to be depth charged by the Japanese just before the war ended.
