FoodBev.Com: "Pusser's Navy Rum Now Available At Harrods"

As MLP implied, most people wouldn't know good rum (or wine, etc.) if it slapped them in the arse. Many judge the flavour of what they're drinking by how much it cost them when they picked it off the shelf (three for £10 in Tesco, anybody?). But there is clearly a market for nostalgia; if Pusser's Rum came in a plain bottle with no logo on it, I imagine most people wouldn't touch it with a barge pole - but stick a White Ensign on it, and somehow that adds 'authenticity' to it's quality...

I feel that was aimed at me, well, lets put it in perspective then reggie, the 15yo is a multi award winning, wood aged tipple,

Awards
Double Gold Winner, The Spirits Business, Rum Masters 2013
Double Gold Winner, The Fifty Best, New York 2012
Gold Medal Winner, IWSC International Wine and Spirits Competition, 2011
Gold Winner, San Francisco World Spirits Competition 2005
Double Gold Winner, San Francisco World Spirits Competition 2003
Gold Medal Winner, Best Dark Rum, London 2001

As I originally posted, its comparison in the Whisky world would be a good single malt whereas the blue label would be a Bells

My previous was not aimed at nobody in particular, so dry yer eyes Princess. But award-winning rum notwithstanding, I maintain my point of view that, most people who buy their booze do so according to their budget rather than the number of gongs it's been awarded. Taste is relative and personal; I have had some supposed award-winning tipples and thought they tasted like paint stripper whereas I have been given some wonderfully obscure labels that were like velvet on the tongue. I enjoyed the experience and did not dwell on how pretentious the label looked or how much it cost me or my host.

Anyway, why is my old branch in the RN relevant to this topic? I neither known nor care what you did in the Mob, so why have you brought it up here? :?

As connoisseurs, would you say that it is worth paying the extra for Pusser's 15 year old rather than standard Pusser's rum?

Given a tot of each, but not knowing which bottles they were from, would you be able to tell the difference between the two?

yes most definitely

Your implication was, to my untrained eye, That it is a poor quality product, and it only sold due to the price and the logo (have you tried it btw, it is very smooth) . As for regurgitating your branch, I was attempting to remind you that conclusions should not be assumed, but the evidence should be investigated.

As for 'dry your eyes princess', no tears shed by these old eyes

I liked my tot. No, I LOVED my tot. I loved my tot and any other tot I could lay my hands on. I still miss my tot and I know of others who feel the same way. I am glad I left the Mob before they stopped the tot because being there when it happened would have greatly upset me. Fortunately, later in life, I discovered single malts and that prevented me becoming bitter and twisted but I still miss my tot. There should be a medical term for the tot obsessive, maybe there is.
