Welcome to the Navy Net aka Rum Ration

The UK's largest and busiest UNofficial RN website.

The heart of the site is the forum area, including:

  1. Re: Flt Lt Richard Sambrooks shows BBC around a Hawk cockpit

He is a Naval Officer! Not a CRAB, therefore, he is a Lieutenant, not a Flight Lieutenant FFS
It really pisses me off when the Beeb can't get the rankings right.
    Roofs

  2. Can't see the "Flt" on there when I looked at it. Looks like it's been amended.

  3. The Beeb never gets ranks / rates correct, if it even mentions them at all!

Lovely day in Yeovs - could be confused with Faslane!

  4. At least they said he was FAA and not RAF. They also noted that FAA pilots were operating in Afghanistan. Two outta three ain't bad.

You are right, but given they get them wrong all the time it is pretty poor form. They regularly refer to senior rates as officers, as re the Crabs they often give 'Flight Commander' as a rank etc. etc.

    Pretty shoddy all round.

  6. After reading this tread I emailed the Beeb. seems they have changed it!!!
