    Hi Bilbo

    Welcome to Rum Ration!

What are your choices? Chef/Logs SC/Logs Pers?

  4. I would suggest with spelling like that, that you become a chef.

If you want to remain fit on board and do decide to become a Chef, then it's best not to take your work home with you...

Don't go for Writer whatever you choose, my eyes started to bleed reading that.

  7. What fcuking ship's did you serve on?

    Crinkly fries? Nuggets? DIPS!

Such luxuries never existed when I was in.

HMS Massive - it was hoofin'! :thumbleft:

  9. We had similar on the "Enormous". Mind you, we needed good scran. It was a mile and a half walk to the galley if all the bikes where taken !!

  10. I know what you mean, I was on her sister ship, the "Ginagorous"

  11. haha sorry lads I was in a rush before i went out so my head was out the door. so can anyone tell me what life is like both as a chef and a Logistician on land and sea to one make up my mind which i prefer and to tell me whether i would have enough spare time on each role to keep myself fit on and of ship.

And thank you for the warm welcome from those not calling me a dumb ass haha.

  12. You will be expected to maintain a certain level of fitness, bilbo, spare time or not.

Anyway, what do you have in mind when you say "keep myself fit"?

To be honest, I'm not sure that choosing a role based on how much spare time it leaves you for other things is really sensible. Imagine yourself actually doing the jobs in question and ask yourself whether you would be happy doing those things on a day to day basis.

  13. Yes i have been thinking about it for the last few days now since passing my psychometric test. I think the pressure of cooking in a busy o kitchen onboard ship would be a challenge that i would enjoy and the fact that it also involves some logistics as well which i think sounds interesting. I am glad that you are encouraged to keep fit and what i mean by fit is not turning in to a chubby lard haha.

  14. One was always wary of Chefs thinner than the proverbial tickler paper....

Look in the Newbies thread, there's a list of waiting times, you will get more help on here if you try helping yourself and then asking if you can't find what you are looking for. If you read through the newbies section most of the answers are there

Wow ok is the list on a preference system to how well you did in your psychometric test or is it based on a first come first served basis
