Fitness and boxing - unrelated questions!

Welcome to the Navy Net aka Rum Ration

The UK's largest and busiest UNofficial RN website.

The heart of the site is the forum area, including:

  1. Hi everyone,

I'm a prospective applicant with a couple of questions - sorry if they've been covered before!

    1) I've got my psychometric test coming up on the 15th August, and the letter inviting me to said test also said I'll need to take my pre-joining fitness test soon. Does that mean it's going to be on the same day?

    2) I recently got into boxing, and I'd like to carry on with it in the navy. However, I am 25, which is quite a late age to start! Would I be too old to carry on with it in the Navy?

  2. I can't see why you shouldn't carry on boxing in the RN but be aware that it is not a good pastime in some specialisations (e.g. diving) where being KO-ed could bring your career to a sudden halt on medical grounds.
  3. Well I'm applying to be a logistics officer, so as long as it doesn't screw with my cognitive functioning too much I guess it will be OK!
  4. There. Fixed it for you!
  5. Hi Tim

    Welcome to Rum Ration!

Your Pre-Joining Fitness Test won't be happening on the same day; that comes later, after the Medical; once you have been passed as fit, you can do the PJFT. I imagine that your PJFT will be in the autumn.
  6. Brilliant, gives me some time to work on my swimming!

    Cheers for your responses guys!
  7. Keep up your boxing skills as you'll need them as a loggie, that gear doesn't pack itself away you know.

If you mean the other sort of boxing, the same applies as I've met many people who've wanted to punch a Supply Officer :eye: ;-P
