It was called LSAP (Long Service Advance of Pay) back in 80s when I used it although it was only £3I back then but still a substantial amount for the time.

I don't think I could have afforded a house without it.
 
I used it, I think it cost me £100 a month at the time, about two months in I got a bit of cash from my Grandma's death (I hadn't seen her since I was about 4!!, families!!!!!) and it was just the right amount give or take £2 or £3 to pay it off :)
