FB: HMS Raleigh RN Submarine School - Torpoint Marathon To Raise Money For The Submariners' Memorial Appeal

Four staff from the Royal Naval Submarine School will be embarking on a double marathon run tomorrow morning to raise money for the Submariners Memorial Appeal.

The four men will be running four miles every four hours for 48 hours around Torpoint.

In total they will run 52 miles, the equivalent of two full marathons.

Chief Petty Officers Duggie Dugdale and Adam Grigg, along with Leading Engineering Technician Jay Palfreyman and retired submariner Mr Phil White have signed up for the run.

They are being supported by Chief Petty Officer Jack Hawkins.

The men are hoping to raise as much money as they can for the appeal and have set-up an online facility for people to donate and show their support -

The run will start at 0900 tomorrow morning (9 Sep).

CPO Dugdale said: “We are four resilient submariners and are looking forward to the challenge.

We are hoping to get a few visitors along the way to help boost our morale and keeping us going.”

The appeal, which is supported by His Royal Highness The Duke of Cambridge, Commodore-in-Chief Submarines, aims to raise £300,000 to fund the creation of an iconic monument at the National Memorial Arboretum.

The memorial will remember and recognise the submariners who have given their lives while serving. More details about the appeal can be found here: https://www.submarinermemorial.uk/
