In its own inimitable style, the BBC has reported this as the work of an Army Explosive Ordnance Disposal unit from Portsmouth. See here for story and video.

Fiona Smith, a crustacean expert at the Sealife centre in Weymouth, said: "Lobsters like to make their homes in crevices and rocky areas.

Didn't they used to call Booties Lobsters? :D

It is very British isn't it, to give a feisty and stubborn old lobster a nickname and infer a personality on it immediately preceding detonating it's home and blowing it to smithereens.

I understand the fellow was nipped as he tried to pull the bugger out, I'm sure as hell I would've made an 'extra special' effort to get him into a new home. A nice, new clean STEEL home on the hob.

EDIT : Re-reading the first paragraph there it sounds like a metaphor for a certain Mr PM..

Normally yes, but I have to concede,

The bugger fair bit me and left me to bleed

So I assembled the charge and muffled my cry

And blew the wee bastard into the sky!

Funny how nobody has mentioned the Luftwaffe's part in this - first of all, they bomb Stan Boardman's chippy, now they cause the death of an unsuspecting Wurzel lobster ! BARSTEWARDS !!!!
