"A file was submitted to a senior CPS prosecutor who made the decision that it is not in the public interest to prosecute Mr Elliott."He received a verbal caution for fraud by false representation in relation to making a false declaration to obtain a driving licence contrary to section 1 and section 2 of the Fraud Act 2006."There's nothing like swift, impartial and merciless justice.

How far do you have to go to be deemed to be impersonating a serviceperson?, that royal bit at the Queens banyan wore a set of Dolphins, had she put on a beret and pinned on her bronze swimming award, would Phil have had a quiet word.

"Mr Elliott is genuinely sorry. He now wants to get on with his life."

I love it when people say this. Where do they get off thinking they can do something wrong and then just sweep it under the rug as if nothing has happened? What a tosser.

Pity they don't make him pay back all the Home to Duty's and Hard layers (perm any one from any allowances available) he would have been entitled to had he been a real Captain!

Me too, all a "sorry" does is salve the conscience of the person saying it, it doesnt change anything or make things better, weasel word.

Bite shield up.

If you read the papers, or even the RR threads you'd know that 'that Royal bit' is the Commandant General or something of the Submarine Service - hence the kissing kippers.

Bite shield to normal sea going line up.

No bite sought, I just wondered if someone who pinned on a pair of Dolphins and joined in a parade was just showing his support for the service with a nice broach he found at a car boot, or impersonating a serviceman, no?, then how about if he added a beret and nice big gold badge to his blazer, if the answer is yes then should the wearing of any militaria be unlawful if you wernt in the forces. As for Mz Middleton that was, I did see on newsround that she had been made a sergeant major in the Navy and was entitled to wear a winged dagger or something but I wasn’t paying that much attention.

I think members of the Royal family are a bit different to fat, self serving, walting twats. Princess Anne is Colonel in Chief of the Household Cavalry, a Regiment that doesn't have females in. I personally wouldn't call her a walt to be honest.

FFS I was using Catherine Elizabeth nee Middleton Duchess of Cambridge as an example I know she isnt trying to pass herself off as a Submariner, if she was she wouldnt have been stood round on that barge she would have been down the bar getting rat arsed what my point was that it is easy to buy badges etc and pin them on and....oh never mind

I do tend to agree with the sentiments of the local RNA that genuine remorse should be demonstrable: He should at least recompense then for the financial gains he took by deceit and sell the medals with the proceeds going to an appropriate service charity. Doubtless there will be some deeply offended, but as his actions didn't remotely affect me, I'm not remotely bothered - but nonetheless pleased he's been publicly humiliated.

Of more concern than the imposter (Elliot) is that it appears to have taken real honest to goodness matelots more than a second to identify him as a fake. The clues are as leaves on a tree and there are plenty of "boat house" questions one could fire in that may further justify / or not, suspicions. For example:

"Sir, why are you such a scran bag?"
"Errr, what's a scran bag?"

For those that don't know what the bloke looks like. (The chap on the left is the eagle eyed one that outed Captain Walter)

So more unemployed in an area of high unemployment because some self-rightous walt-outer, who has no doubt spotted every train decided to turn him in. So, who'se this brave hero who has ensured Capt Walt's workers get sacked? I hope he feels proud of himself.
