Fair winds and following sea to HMCS Iroquois

Fair winds indeed.

That Canadian Website said:
Chief of Defence Staff Gen. Rick Hillier was on hand and praised military families for their understanding and support.

"I don't think there's a greater group of Canadians than the families that are here," Hillier said.
Hmm, you lot get the Chief of Defence Staff seeing you off with worthy praise. We get some Family hanging off a rock with a banner if we're lucky :)
Tells a story, that does!

Here's the local rag's version... http://www.thechronicleherald.ca/Front/1050905.html (got some warm fuzzies over the local comments)

As well, we've started including parents in the "news tree" when the units/ships go out. http://ca.news.yahoo.com/s/capress/080419/national/military_parents_help

To be honest, I don't ever remember a time when there wasn't a farewell bash when a ship got underway. Some of the more annoying ones were revving up the engines in the Bedford Basin overnight and our families would be lined up along the Basin waving at us going round in big circles.
