failed my aptitude test:(

That is the official line Ninja but not what goes on in practice, a number of people go direct to their RNR units and just defer going to the AFCOs for the aptitude test. Obviously you dont get paid or get to Raleigh until you pass the test but an number use it to stay in touch with the RN until they can retake the exam.

How interesting! Do tell which units carry out this practice.

It would be fascinating to know how the relevant units would cope without crown "insurance" should anything happen.

There is little point having a selection process if you accept people that have been rejected, particularly as we would not have interviewed or conducted a medical on the individual, let alone done a PNC.

It would be rather unfortunate if the individual was to attend the RNR for a year until eligible to re-sit the test, then failed at interview, medical, PJFT or security check after they had been led up the garden path for so long.

The stupidity astounds me, particularly if the RNR wish to be treated exactly the same as the regulars.

Edited to add:

Within the last 6 months we came across an ex-Service candidate who wished to join the RNR.

The consensus was that he was a marvellous chap who freely gave of his own time & had even volunteered to work with one of the local SCC units.

Guess what? Discharged from the Services with multiple unspent Service & criminal offences including dishonesty- strange that he couldn't find his discharge papers, eh?

Oh, and he was on the sex offenders register too. Nice chap though.

Is it really that hard? I've already done the aptitude test for the RAF and didn't find it that hard at all tbh.

We're all different though I guess.

Mmmm, Ben_C maybe whilst Ben1985 is brushing up on his Maths skills, you could brush up on being a little more sensitive? Seemingly by your own admission you are pretty intelligent, so no doubt you will work it out.

Ben1985, missing by 1 question is just bad luck mate! Don't be disheartened.
Hit the books and try again. Go for it & good luck!!

It's well worth swotting-up before re-sitting the Recruiting Test.

It's no good just re-sitting without first doing some consolidated revision. In most cases those that do not pass at the first sitting for any trade only have a 30% chance of passing second time around- hence it's not much good attending an RNR unit on a casual basis, you're better off going into either full time education or evening classes- you wont pass by just having another go.

Failing by "one point" means that 21 out of 30 questions were wrong. Think not of the one point, aim to get that many correct second time around.

I didn't mean to come across like that. By my own admission I think I am largely undereducated.
