Thank goodness we have invested billions of pounds in two new aircraft carriers to stop those horrible Russians from switching off our gas and electricity supplies.

What's he after, flog the Carriers so someone can pay his energy bills from the sale?

He's suggesting the carriers are about as much use as one legged man in a butt kicking contest. When the last Labour government ordered them the last concern on their mind was "what are we going to do with them when we've built them?"

To be fair, they knew they would not be making the decisions then.

The Tories decided to give themselves more thinking time by slowing up the build and started ridding the RN of all the other ships so we had enough sailors to make a crew. It must be nice being a politician in government as you can make all kinds of useless decisions and not be around when it all goes pear shaped.

Not going to defend the record of the current government, cos it is awful, but the "slowing of the build" really happened under Comrades Brown and Hutton. They slowed QE down by a year and would have delayed PoW further to save a couple of billion out of 2008's public spending. In the end it added quite a bit more than that to the overall cost of the programme.

Not that much different to the fact that politicians in Opposition can - and do - promise anything as long as it gets votes.

And deliver nothing as they have no real power other than to shout how good they could be.

Let’s hand over the reins to Jeremy and all go and live with @SONAR-BENDER and party to the end?
