this site is getting clogged by techno geeks making things up,just so they can slag off other posters, people come on here because even after many years they still care about the navy and those who followed us the usual smart arses here should bugger off to facebook everyone who voices an opinion should be respected for doing so, and not be slagged off by the so called radar and pilot wannabees, lets all grow up some

I've not seen anything apart from the drivel and subjective assertions from you and Anglo42 that I'd class as 'made up'.

You seem happy to publish bilge and waffle but won't accept views of others, many of whom are very well placed to known current facts.

I suggest just because you don't know or understand what is being post you should go back and read more (wider) or ask more pertinent questions.

If anyone needs to grow up it really looks like you.

...if they're such relics why do the us.m.c still use them?

Would these be the AV-8Bs which the USMC are already phasing out in favour of F-35Bs?

...at least they didn't smash the overall R.N. budget...

As has already been pointed out to you, other than liabilities for the RN personnel involved with F-35 sqns, the cost of the UK F-35 procurement is almost exclusively coming out of Joint and Air budgets. The RN are however obviously paying for the carriers and related infra.

...[Harriers]...are proven, which is more than the fingers crossed it actually works great american hope...

If the RN only stuck with 'proven' designs, they'd still be flying the Fairey Flycatcher; you don't stay ahead by standing still.

if you're here to insult other peoples intelligence i suggest you do 'one' at least i can post with the knowlage that i have experienced 'real war in a blue suit...

Before you embarrass yourself further, you may wish to:

a. Research @Pontius' professional background.

b. Stop to consider that, without denegrating CORPORATE veterans, many on this site will have accrued considerably more operational experience over the last few years than yourself.

c. Look up some serving RN and RAF air and groundcrew who are involved with the Programme and ask them what they think of the F-35.

Ultimately, it may be that leadership as well as experienced aircrew and engineers from the USAF, USN, USMC, RN, RAF, Italian Navy, Italian AF, RAAF, RNethAF, RNorAF, RDAF, IDF-AF, RoKAF, Turkish AF and JASDF are all wrong about the F-35 and that you and @anglo42 are correct.

Somehow though, I doubt it.

...which is more than most on this joke site...

If you consider this site a joke, perhaps should should refrain from contributing further.

...F35 has been bought for both the FAA and the RAF, they won't share aircraft there is a well understood split of assets...

To be strictly accurate WD, the F-35s are being shared. There will be no FAA sqns or jets just as there will be no RAF sqns or jets. Instead, all units will be jointly manned on a 44:56 RN/RAF ratio just as 17(R) Sqn already is (indeed, the next sqn Boss will be an RN pilot).

In due course, you will see RN officers commanding 617 Sqn and RAF officers doing likewise with 809. Similarly, whether an F-35 sqn bears an RN or RAF numberplate, each will spend time embarked on the QEs and operating from RAF Marham or deployed land bases.

Regards,
MM

You're deluded and fishing for angst. You've become the Navy Net Katie Hopkins.
The very fact you reference a Lewis Page article from the Register as your factual basis indicates how little you know.

I gave the Register because I couldn't find the piece in Flight International which quoted
on remarks by Air Commodore Chris Bushell, leader of the Ministry of Defence (MoD) project team in charge of the fighter

"You're deluded and fishing for angst. You've become the Navy Net Katie Hopkins."

That's a bit harsh [ the Katie hopkins bit is really hateful]

This site is clogged up by 'reality' AR9. It's inconvenient, I know. Because it stands in the way of a bloody good rant at how marvellous the mob used to be (until we got found out by a third rate bunch of chancers in the South Atlantic and started putting down our 'tinnies' and porn and started being serious about being matelots) and then we were pushed all the way to the back, behind the Women's Auxiliary Balloon Corps whilst the rest of the AF went off to war in the sandpit.

You're not quite on message are you when it comes to the small internal battle which has taken place way, way above your head to regenerate faith in grey warships by the politicos, are you? You're quite willing to whine that we don't have County Class (some of which lasted just 17 years with the RN) yet the oldest of the T23s are now well over twenty years old and are six times as capable with a fifth of the crew and fuel useage.

Keep 'diting on' son. The lamp is swinging ...

Often I'm aggrieved to arrive late to a party that it looks like I may have enjoyed, however I see some exceptional work has already been done here to utterly bury some weapons grade, Master Green idiocy. In some style I might add.

Excellent work gents. Truly. It's warming to know there are still some people in the know left on this site.
