Failing the eye exam. Guessing that's it, end of the line, thank you for your interest etc...?

If you don't meet the standards for your branch then the only other option is corrective surgery (laser eye surgery).

I think if you have corrective eyesight surgery then you have to wait until 22, or a few years depending on age. I'm sure someone will have the exact terms.

Unfortunately Grasshopper, anything less than Visual Acuity standard 3 is a "no-go" for the Naval Service.

For laser surgery, your pre-operative prescription needs to be "in bounds", the type of surgery accepted, 12 months clear of surgery & over age 22, as stated above.

Your AFCO will advise specific details.

Been told to go into the AFCO to see a doctor tomorrow, so I will hopefully know my fate when I come out.

As a matter of interest, for those that follow - was this completely unexpected or were you aware your eyesight was poor?

Aware that it was poor, wasn't aware it was that poor.

Got a +12 in my right eye.
