Extended service?

Welcome to the Navy Net aka Rum Ration

The UK's largest and busiest UNofficial RN website.

The heart of the site is the forum area, including:

  1. I am quickly approaching my 22 years of service and I am currently negotiating a extended contract of one year (Extended service not extended career). At present I am tied in to the AFPS 75 contract. By extending a service would this have any affect on my pension?
  2. If you were a Regular aged 45 or over in April 2012, you will remain on AFPS 75.

My guess is that you are not so, if your extra year means that you serve beyond 1 April 2015, you would have a small AFPS 15 entitlement. Your AFPS 75 pension and lump sum for the years and days you have served up to and including 31 March 2015 would be paid immediately. You would get a small preserved pension, payable at your State Pension Age, a very small EDP lump sum and a very small EDP income payable until your State Pension Age.
