Ex army wanting to join royal navy

Well, might see you at the Liverpool AFCO sometime, probably half asleep in the waiting area........waiting still :p

Best of luck to you buddy. Its a bit of a hassle if you have already served in some fashion previously it seems but get down the AFCO and start it rolling. Not quite the same as your situation I know but I was TA for 5 years and Im applying for the Navy now and am in the 'getting stuff the Navy need from the Army' stage and its annoying but dont let it worry you.

Welcome aboard Rum Ration too by the way :)

Not a good idea.

How would you gain from that?

thats what i thought lol. i always say honesty is best.

Honesty is definitely the right way to go when it comes to speaking to the Careers Advisors and completing the various forms. The consequences of being dishonest during the application process can be substantial.

my only thing is soleil is the waiting times. i could be 26 before i actually walk through the gates for training. its a long time to wait, especially when you hate what your doing with life right now. getting away from shit civvy street is a must ASAP

A question like that from a kid off the street would be undestandable. You've served and your're asking a question like, "what if i don't mention previous service time?" raises questions about a potential lack of integrity in my view...

Editted for gash spelling

Ah give the guy a chance Labs :p

On a serious note however, Honesty is a very important thing at all stages of the process. Specially with my recruiter. Just be yourself, be honest and dont worry. Plus, you would be found out quickly anyway when they did the security checks etc I suspect.

For those vaguelly interested, whenever someone applies to join the service(s) we routinely access all previous or ongoing tri-service applications by matching the name, date of birth together with NI & NHS numbers.

Even if you change names, or provide false birth certificate & passport, we can normally suss out whether someone has former regular or reserve service.

I've even had someone currently serving in another service trying to join the Navy without disclosing it. His unit were highly amused when they found out.

Crap

I'm coming up to 2 years in the TA (well, 1 fully trained since SUT ended) and was hoping for the January BRNC intake.

Me thinks there is going to be a delay.

Apologies on the tangential route from the thread (although it's not the first I see).
