    Lord Horatio Nelson was - and remains - the Norfolk Hero, the maritime warrior who masterminded the defeat of the combined Franco-Spanish fleets at the Battle of Trafalgar in 1805 and lost his life in doing so.

    His exploits continued the Norfolk naval tradition established by Perbrowne, Myngs and Shovell but also left a legacy that continued with great sailors who were inspired by him over the generations that followed."
