Duvet covers on board pusser's floaty and boaty things.

This is a question for those here who don't love being cocooned in a cramped sleeping bag or wrapped in a hairy grey pusser blanket when you get your head down. For the older readership (most of us), apparently today's matelots don't sleep in hammocks any more, but use bunks and duvets...

What duvet cover (and matching pillowcase, if appropriate) do you have? Photos would be appreciated (RR advice on how to do this available). You can post via an ImageCave account.

NO POSTINGS BY OLD SALTS PLEASE - SHIP BORNE PICS ONLY

Re: Duvet covers on board pusser's floaty and boaty thi

I had a Wallace and Gromit duvet cover when sleeping in a normal bunk and my usual double duvet cover when on board Argus.

No pics, I'm afraid.

Right Always - now you've got me really worried, perhaps even a little scared.

Asking sailors to describe or even send photos of their bedding is just a little too far beyond the rubicon, even for you. What kind of sick, trophy hunting, man are you?

It's only the bedding SF!

Entertaining as it would be to have piccies with them inside the duvets, that's not what I'm after. Honest! I blame FF for getting me onto the topic. Anyway, I'm still not totally convinced that today's matelots even have duvets! I mean, a wet woolen blanket is still warm at the end of the day. A wet duvet on the other hand is... yuk... cold and takes yonks to dry out. Also I don't associate ruff tuff Stokers with softy, fluffy, Thomas the Tank Engine duvets!

This is what I would expect to find on board a modern warship...

Mine was blue with loads of coloured hot air balloons on it , it must be over 20 years old & at this moment it is on the single bed in my spare room , looks a bit faded now , but apart from that its fine ,

Mine was a Union Jack until the pusser provided the free blue ones, in my opinion much more military looking

Yeah right. First it's socks, then bedding - next it's their nicks. We know where this is going. You're a bad man.
