I'm a British dual national , I was born in south Africa and my father is Scottish so im South Africa and British and am joining the Subs as a chef, I'm about to go into Raleigh but was informed by someone who works on the subs that you can't be a dual national and still join just wondering if it's true ?

I LOVE deep fried haggis!

But Mrs SB couldn't believe that we/they also do deep fried pizza! She saw it and thought it was disgusting!!

Want to ask a similar question here. I am a British National (Overseas), was born and grew up to Hong Kong. My mother is a BN(O) as well, but my father is from Macau. Because of my father, I have a Macau permanent ID card. I am worried about whether anything about my father and Macau would negatively affect my application.

Hi Bastion,

Hopefully this will help you manage expectations, I followed up on my application and here's the automated response from the AFCO:

Due to the current global uncertainty regarding Coronavirus, the Royal Navy has temporarily suspended assessments in the UK for overseas candidates. This is to prevent disadvantage to you. UK guidance is that individuals should not travel and those developing symptoms on arrival should self-isolate. This risks individuals missing their interviews and medical appointments and sufferihg personal loss. Those who have booked travel should cancel. The Royal Navy will resume its assessment programme as soon as it is practicable

Being a dual national is fine as long as it is approved on the role you are applying for. In my case I am a British Citizen, however I have been working outside the country since 2011 and acquired another nationality in the Philippines due to my parents being originally from this country. Now I am in the overseas applicant pool and I guess we just have to wait.

Not sure if it will help but I am looking to go back home to the U.K. around September, regardless of the result of my Royal Navy application.

Thank you very much, rgb. In fact, I am in the middle of the joining process. I have passed the face-to-face interview and medical assessment. I have been studying in the UK for more than three years. That is why I am more worried about the things that is beyond the scope of my voluntary control.
