Welcome to the Navy Net aka Rum Ration

The UK's largest and busiest UNofficial RN website.

The heart of the site is the forum area, including:

  1. Fletch and me are meeting up next Wednesday (24 January 2007) from 1700 onwards at St.Stephen's Tavern in Westminster (nearest station: Westminster Tube station) for a few drinks. If anyone else if interested let us know and feel free to join us.

  2. if only it had been on the monday 29t
  3. I'll arrange another one later, in the Spring.
  4. I was in london last weekend! Why didn't you say owt?
  5. Right, the event tomorrow has been called off... unless anyone wants to come along?

It is being RESCHEDULED for Wednesday 14 MARCH 2007 starting 1800.

The drinks run begins at St.Stephen's Tavern, about a minute's walk from Westminster tube station. From there we could meander/stagger to the Red Lion on Whitehall (my local watering hole). Fletch has then suggested we go on from there to The Silver Cross near Trafalgar Square or perhaps Weatherspoons (which is cheaper and offers affordable scran in the bargain) and Old Shades. Any other suggestions welcome on the day!

    Is anyone interested?
  6. Sorted!

I will book a meeting in the morning and stay overnite. re-re wind...

Damn! Stuck in Guzz and don't go on Easter Leave until 16 April...
  10. I will be bringing a spare pair of jeans in case I piss meself.

ooooh is it jeans or not? London... big city... dress code?
  11. I'm interested but will probably have to book some leave. It's worth bumping this up from time to time as a reminder.
  12. No worries about Dress Code, Sweeney Oppo, those of us that are in the Smoke already at work will have to wear whatever is acceptable there before meeting up for a few whets on the run. It's just whatever you are comfortable in I guess. Maybe, before the event, we could come up with an "aid to recognition" as the pubs may get a bit busy around knocking off time in Westminster, but otherwise you could turn up in knicks and flip-flops and a towel if you wanted, this IS a Pusser's run you know matey !!!!

I trust everyone that has signed up so far will be in fine signing voice as I haven't had a reunion run yet (with the lads and lassess from www.mylostoppos.com) when we haven't "entertained" the pub's clientelle some time during the evening !!!

  13. Hmmmm.......Run ashore.Any females coming?
  14. Tiz in the diary, me old....
  15. I'll be wearing a false beard and false beer gut... and pretending i have a limp.
  16. Sounds about right! That'll be VERY distinctive!

I've got a un-ribboned sailor's hat dating from 1960 from the ship's stores in the G Place (still in its brown wrapper) despite never having been there or been a matelot!     Perhaps wearing that would be wrong: impersonating a sailor!!!   I could do with a ribbon to circumnavigate the circumference: HMS Gay Civvy!
  17. LOL !!!
I have a feeling that you will be more likely to draw the attention of a large number of, shall we say, the QUAINTER Politicians in the area rather than matelots, young man !!

  18. ... a limp WHAT ? We'll have NONE of THAT on the run old son !!! I would guess, Steve (Mr "Always") will be the token limp wrist !! LOL !!!!

  19. None yet but we live in hope !!!!

There WILL, almost certainly, be some office and tourist totty around the area we are intending to drink in, so I guess if you played your cards right, they could just be coming a little later !!!

  20. The Red Lion may be a good bet if you're after an MP's Research Assistant...
