Donald Green FX/107504 Fleet Air Arm

#1
Hi there, I'm new to this site and am hoping to find some info about my late father's time in the Fleet Air Arm. His name was Donald Green and he served between 1942 and 1946. I have posted a few photos on my profile and in time I'll post some more - all I really know about his time was that he served in Ceylon and his friends saved up their rum rations for his 21st birthday - he got very drunk!!
Sadly, I never asked the questions when he was alive so can only rely on you lovely people to help!
Thanks
Steve

A 21st birthday was always reason to celebrate in the RN. However as your dad and his oppos where issued with grog (2 parts water 1 part rum) it is unlikely that they saved it up as grog does not keep.
The normal routine would have been for each man to pour some of his own tot into your dads to glass.
From past experience I had my 21st in Mombasssa and the day was a write off.:sleepy:
