Does anyone use the chatbar?

Welcome to the Navy Net aka Rum Ration

The UK's largest and busiest UNofficial RN website.

The heart of the site is the forum area, including:

  1. I'm just looking at replacing the chatbar with a better system. Before I do though is it worth it, or just pointless clutter slowing things down a little and should be chopped?

In the last 24 hours, 48 messages were sent. I wonder if that could just as easily be done by PM?
  2. OK thanks.
  3. Never seem to find anyone on when I look, but would keep it as a feature.
  4. I've used it a few times to chat to applicants with issues. Useful as it's faster than PMing. I'd vote to keep.
  5. I use it a fair bit. So do my stalkers.

  6. **** off Monty. You use it to talk to me about how you love Finks really and ask for my advice on how to approach him as you're shy!

  10. Out of interest...if there is a mechanism to count the number of posts, does it also say who is senting messages to whom?

I find it's just clutter, particularly if using a tablet or mobile in normal viewing mode.
  15. you can turn it off by clicking on the little down arrows on the very right hand side

Yep, but you have to turn it off each visit (unless I'm mistaken).

If you could turn it off on the user control panel it would be spiffing. Maybe we can and it's just me.
  19. No - it should stay closed unless you clear your cookies.
