Docyard security

It can be too easy to get in sometimes, but there is no excuse for letting someone through with no form of ID and no right to be there. Eventually, the MGS is going to issue a "halt or I fire" command and a journo is going to be feeling the hot end of a round up his/her arse. Nice to see they get all holier-than-thou when some of their get taken out by car bombs in Iraq as well, relegating the story of the soldiers to a byline story. Some journos I have a lot of time for, the others I wouldn't piss on if they were on fire.

Once again the rag who supprts our troops shines through. If you can't find any news make some!!

Did he get to look at what Joe and Josephine Public look at on a Navy Day outing.

Video equipment was smuggled on board would that be a mobile phone I am a thinking??

Pity he was not given a good welcome by some bootneck then it would be a civil human rights thing compo case. "OUR MAN WAS ATTACKED AND BADLY BEATEN BY A THUG WEARING A UNIFORM IS THIS THE WAY TO TREAT THE PAPER THAT CARES FOR IT'S COUNTRYMEN AND WOMEN"

The Scum is great - editor is a thug who beats their partner and keeps it off the front page (then again this was Ross Kemp's missus that gave him a pasting), and they employ a journo who was implicated in the suicide/murder of his wife (the Scum lawyers put it all down to the stress of his job reporting on a TUC conference). They employed Garry Bushell as well, who I knew many years ago in the Oi!/Skinhead era.

The Scum is great, held in massive contempt by the Armed Forces, and leaves the worst newsprint transfers on your arse of any national newspaper.

The Current Bun got it right for us - when we were on the front page as HMS NOOKIE is was one of the most accurate pieces of reporting ever. The only thing missing was the names. They even gave the CO time to comment before they went to print.

Come on guys,
We all know that Modplod are only good at spotting jack trying to get away quick for the train at weekends.

Can you remember what they were like if you just had one blue liner to many on nights leave? It was more like committing a capital offence.

Yes - but there were post boxes in the Dockyard and still are. Not that anyone is advocating posting ciggies home.....

Yep! even though I didn't smoke a lot, they still searched the grip.

I even had one modplod try to have me for taking sheets & pillowcase home for dhobying - accused me of not having a police pass, didn't believe me that it was issued part of the kit :?

Also one in Chatham yard who wanted to run me in for having a biro type pen in my pocket on full show - and who would not accept that it was part of my job, as a Dusty, to carry it as a tool of the trade!
There was also a certain modplod Sergeant in Chatham who had a beehive in his bonnet about the caterers who were purged in the 70's for fiddling, and was always targetting any jack wearing the star badge coming into Pembroke from the yard.

Bit out of date chaps, MOD Police aren't responsible for gate security at Dockyards, it Ministry Guard Service (MGS), lets face it if every pass was checked by touch then the centres of "Guzz" and "Pompey" would be more grid locked than they are normally.

I can remember missing a plane at Glasgow in the late 80’s because the Ba$tards stopped me and took all my kit out to search for gawd knows what. They took ages because they were doing traffic control and made me sit in the back room until they had time to deal with me. They certainly didn't find anything incriminating and since I'd missed my train and later my plane I was bloody furious. To his credit the OOD chewed them out when he found out.

As far as the Sun is concerned in my personal opinion the reporters are all spawned from hell. Duplicitous Bastards one and all; they talk of loving the Services but never miss a chance to screw us royally.

The really story is that whilst highlighting our security weaknesses, they’re also doing a lot of the legwork for the terrorist fraternity. I wonder just how good they’ll feel about themselves when they’re responsible for handing the blueprints over and people die as a result.

No I think if you check the gates in Guzz, that some are guarded by both (sometimes the plod is armed) St Levin’s & Drake for sure.
