Do you know THIS erstwhile organisation?

Welcome to the Navy Net aka Rum Ration

The UK's largest and busiest UNofficial RN website.

The heart of the site is the forum area, including:

This is unbelievable, but apparently true!

Can you imagine working for a company that has a little more than 600 employees and has the following employee statistics?

29 have been accused of spouse abuse

7 have been arrested for fraud

9 have been accused of writing bad cheques

17 have directly or indirectly bankrupted at least 2 businesses

3 have done time for assault

71 cannot get a credit card due to bad credit

14 have been arrested on drug-related charges

8 have been arrested for shoplifting

21 are currently defendants in lawsuits

84 have been arrested for drink driving in the last year

    Which organisation is this?

It's the 635 members of the House of Commons, the same group that cranks out hundreds of new laws each year designed to keep the rest of us inline.

What a bunch of b*****ds that we have running our country - it says it all. And just to top all that they have the best 'corporate' pension scheme in the country!!

If you agree that this is an appalling state of affairs, please pass it on to everyone you know. It's time to stand up to this lot

  2. Hello Flymo,

Thanks - Comparing it side by side with Snopes, it DOES looks like a slightly amended version of a 1999 US Congress slag-off/myth. :?

Although it SEEMS genuine enough I should have spotted the usual giveaway lue about 'passing it on' to one & all, etc. Grrrrrr.

Anyway, It should serve as a good dit in view of current MP shennanigans, if nothing else.

Well done that man - For spotting it.

I'll now withdraw sheepishly, as the scottish shepherd once said to his prize ewe...

  4. Wearing my pompous hat at ajaunty angle I ask, "Do you know what erstwhile actually means?????"
  5. Sorry BOOTWU if I have shattered any illusions of those in the Big House - who will be going on Harry Leave for a loooooooong time very soon. Makes you wonder how the country survives without them .... :)
  6. For LujonSA,

Who asked <<Wearing my pompous hat at ajaunty angle I ask, "Do you know what erstwhile actually means?????" >>

    Answer =
Re: Erstwhile - Chosen in this context >belonging to some prior time< ie recently....

But, (as was pointed out by our eagle-eyed Flymo, and acknowledged by me, above) it has become apparent that this is a re-cycled Urban Myth and hardly worth any of us wasting much more time on.

Edit - to add LujonSA initial question.
  7. Sorry to be a pedant but erstwhile means fomer as in 'my erstwhile friend BOOTWU'. Or, my fromer friend BOOTWU because he probably isn't talking to me now.
