Welcome to the Navy Net aka Rum Ration

The UK's largest and busiest UNofficial RN website.

The heart of the site is the forum area, including:

  1. There was a diving thread a short time back, but I think this can stand on its own.

I'm also waiting to join as a diver, have done the PEDA and start basic in May.

What I'd like to know from any current or former divers out there is what's the difference between 'selection' and 'live-in week?' I originally thought there were the same thing, but recently found out that 'selection' occurs directly after basic training, while 'live-in week' happens some time into the phase 2 divers course. Antone able to clarify?
  2. Well I can clarify that they are both very hard :p
  3. The selection week you have to pass to progress to the diving course.

The live in week is contained within the training at about week 10 or 11 and is very very intense with very little sleep.

A current diver would be able to elaborate more.
