Discovery Ch. - 25/10/10 - 2200 - Frontline Battle Machines

Welcome to the Navy Net aka Rum Ration

The UK's largest and busiest UNofficial RN website.

The heart of the site is the forum area, including:

  1. Saw a half-page advert for this series in the Mail on Sunday yesterday.

Background picture was of a Jungly SeaKing hovering over some bootnecks as they disconnected a net loaded with supplies in Afghanistan. The advert showed the words "Royal Navy" along its side quite clearly. V pleased.

Series starts tonight. Not sure how much is directly RN relevant, but it could be interesting:
  2. No mention of the RN or Seakings in the blurb on that site. However,
is one of the 'Battle Machines' featured in episode 6.
  3. Yes, I know. I was a bit flummoxed by that, as I assumed, having seen the half page ad in the MoS yesterday, that there must be a certain degree of RN representation in the programme.
  4. More likely stock photographs used by their PR department - big whirly thing = a helicopter - must be RAF. Witness the programme about the taking of Prince Harry with multiple shots of different airframes from different nations (incl shadows etc) meant to represent an Apache.
  5. Surely Shadows and Apache are synonymous.
  6. Re: Discovery Ch. - 25/10/10 - 2200 - Frontline Battle Machi

Sol, Thanks for the info... Sky +'d it and watched it last night, as with most things regarding Afghan, the more (decent) media coverage of what our guys and girls do out there can only be good press.

thought it was a cracking programme.
